WHAT: Wild Rumpus, 50th Anniversary Tribute Show

WHERE: POP Gallery Santa Fe, NM

WHEN: Opens NOV 21-Dec 31

RECEPTION: 1st Friday ARTwalk DEC 6th 5-7pm

In 2013, POP Gallery celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the classic children’s book WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE and the wonderful legacy of Maurice Sendak.

In THE ART OF MAURICE SENDAK (1980) Maurice Sendak discusses the Trilogy as “variations on the same theme: how children master various feelings-anger, boredom, fear, frustration, jealousy-and manage to come to grips with the realities of their lives.”

POP Gallery has invited artists to create artwork inspired by Max and the Wild Things to be showcased for the holidays in Santa Fe.

The group show, Wild Rumpus, will open Thanksgiving week and run through December. Featuring Paul Barnes, Renee Lawter, Martin Hsu, Max Lehman, Miss Mindy, CJ Metzger, Kim Gordon, CGary Brickel, Michele Lynch, Jeff Brock, Ryan Myers, Keely Benkey-Reichman, Trevor Mikula, M.C. Farris and Kristen Margiotta among others. Artwork will range from 2D to 3D and will include custom vinyl toys. Art workshops will be hosted to benefit POP kidz, in support of igniting creative spirit, details coming soon.
